black cardigan brigade

The black cardigan brigade were out in force tonight. Yes, it was a school governor's meeting, the first one I have attended since being a non-parent governor. The black cardigans seem to be worn mainly by the non-staff side of the fence governors- the ones that have no influence but are necessary to rubber stamp the decisions made by the head. Actually, there is no such dress code, just an unfortunate coincidence of style, that doesn't happen very often, but will always stick in my mind. Mine is worn as it is the only thing I have that is vaguely smart and is suposed to say: "I can be serious even though I'm covered in baby food." As may be apparent, I am the worse for a couple of large vodka and oranges, which are necessary to recover from said meetings. Actually, it wasn't bad at all, in fact, it was quite uneventful: I managed to grit my teeth and nod and smile in the right places.
Anyway, I can't concentrate with that Mark Steel wittering on the TV. I'm starting to really hate the TV. I think it may have to have a nasty accident. I would go somewhere else, but I can't get a signal in most places in the house. So much for the wireless network.
Went to a book sale this morning and got several readers, including an Alison Uttley, and an ELC jigsaw of the Channel (with all the pieces!).

Hello and welcome!!

I loved the post about your Granny- made me feel all nostalgic :-). I can't crochet :-(.

I don't own a black cardigan- well I do sort of but it has Golddigga written across the back, does that count?

Yes- I think this is the kind of garment I need- u can pretend to be in uniform and then, as u get up to leave.. would really get up the nose of the deputy head!
