owwwch!!!!

The tooth that has giving me so much pain is no longer. I'm so relieved. I just went back to see why it was still hurting after having a filling (eventually) on Wednesday, and the dentist said do you want me to take it out now, or wait and see if it settles down. I was quite impressed with my bravery, as I'm not known for this, when it comes to dentists, but it was really hurting, so I decided to go for it. I even got a refund for the filling!

Mave went into a massive strop when I asked her to look after the boys, as she had arranged to go shopping with her friend. So Pete (her boyfriend) did it. He was fine. He even changed a nappy on Wednesday. Furg spent the entire day watching videos. He has been absolutely horrid since he's been ill and I couldn't do anything with him. Ally has been disrupted by everyone getting up in the night, being ill, having toothache, etc, and has not settled down yet. But I really needed a break after today. I went all giddy after the painkillers/anasthetic on top of no food. Someone came round today to talk about some work I'm supposed to be doing in the next week. Great timing.

I spoke to my mum today and she felt compelled to give me some teaching advice, seeing as the children are deprived of the superior knowledge of fully trained teachers (I suppose the Montessori teachers don't even count. No, that's not it, it's that I might be doing it 'wrong', and the potential damage could be irreversible). I suppose its a case of a qualified teacher being a bit put out by the thought that someone who isnt qualified thinks they can 'teach' children.

Hi Rosie
Suggested Christmas present for your mum: Jan F-W's Doing It Their Way? John Holt's Learning All the Time? I think these should be required reading for anyone who wants to make comments about home ed!
