So what do you use to make the soles then?
some soft leather (salvaged from a washer factory) lined with felted wool.
Might have to overcome my aversion to working with leather - seems daft to have an aversion to that when I cook meat for other ppl!
Yes IKWYM about leather. this stuff was really old, so not too bad. I coulnt think of anything else non-sippy and sewable. Maybe fake leather or suede? What is that stuff they print on the bottom of socks to make them non-slip, anyway? rubbery stuff. not that any of our floors are that slippy. I mean some courduroy would probably be hardwearing enough. the shammy wore out when he started walking around.
